Crickets ![]()
Crickets can be an annoying pest in homes because they are attracted to light and warmth, and once, inside, they can damage belongings like clothing and wallpaper. To get rid of them, seal entry points, reduce outdoor lighting, and keep your yard clear of debris and tall grass. Indoor solutions include vacuuming. sealing cracks and crevices, and having regular spraying for general pests.
We have a few cricket species in Ohio that can become pests. Camel crickets, which are much larger than typical field crickets or house crickets, tend to head into the basement and love moisture.
Another problem with crickets is that they are prey, and the presence of crickets will attract spiders, centipedes, and other pests which hunt them.
Typically, after a pest control initial, there is no need for follow ups, but seasonal spraying is recommended.
